A Halogenerator is a special type of equipment which transforms dry Sodium Chloride (NaCl), which is salt, into micronized particles for the inhalation purposes during salt therapy session. The smaller the particles, the deeper penetration into the airways is achieved.
It is imperative that during the salt therapy session the inhaled salt particles reach not only the main respiratory tract but the deeper areas including the bronchiole and alveoli. To have a curative effect, the particles size should be between 0.5 and 5 microns with 80% of all particles to be smaller than 2 microns.
It is also important that the concentration of salt aerosol is controlled. Controlling the particles size and concentration of inhaled salt creates the efficacy of the salt therapy modality.
